The coffee produced in the municipality of La Union, Narino, is some of the most complex and delicious coffee in Colombia. The high altitude, proximity to the Pacific Ocean, and the unique weather patterns in the area make for ideal coffee-growing conditions. Small farms, typically between 2 to 4 hectares, are managed by family members who take care of the entire process from picking to drying. Because of the high altitude, the farmers refer to their farms as pieces of heaven on earth. This particular lot is named El Cielo and produces a sweet and clean cup with complex citrus notes. Pergamino Coffee in partnership with Terra Coffee in Narino outsources, dries, and exports this organic certified coffee.
This is a washed whole bean coffee but a ground option is available.

About Coffee From Colombia: Colombia is one of the largest coffee producers in the world. The coffee industry is a significant contributor to the country’s economy, employing over 600,000 people. Colombia is known for producing high-quality Arabica coffee, which is favored for its mild and smooth flavor profile. In Colombia, coffee harvesting is labor-intensive, with most of the work done by small-scale farmers and their families. The country’s focus on producing high-quality coffee and strict quality control measures has helped make Colombian coffee a popular choice among consumers worldwide.
About The Washed Coffee Process: The washed coffee process is a method of processing coffee beans in which the outer layers of the fruit are removed before the beans are dried. This process begins by removing the outer layers of the coffee cherry, which reveals the green coffee beans inside. These beans are then placed in water tanks, where they are agitated to remove any remaining bits of fruit. The beans are then rinsed and left to soak for some time, during which any defective beans will float to the surface and can be removed. After the soaking period, the beans are drained and spread out to dry in the sun. Once the beans have dried to the appropriate moisture content, they are hulled to remove the remaining dried layers of fruit and are then sorted and packaged for shipment.
All things being equal, we want to collaborate with people we can have long lasting friendships with. Even though quality is always top of mind, what is equally imporant are the relationships we’ve developed over the years with farmers and green coffee reps.
All of our coffee is roasted on our new, state-of-the-art Loring S15. The Loring is the most energy efficient, consistent and quality focused coffee roaster in the market. Our goal is to roast each coffee in order to maximize its natural flavors without imparting any roast characteristics. This makes our coffee rich, sweet and flavorful.
Brewing coffee is one of the most overlooked processes in the entire chain. Especially at home, most people do not take the time to learn or implement proper brewing techniques. This can lead to poorly extracted coffee and inconsistent flavor. Focus on dosing out a consistent weight of coffee to water and using a proper burr grinder to grind your coffee right before brewing.
