Vantablack / Ultra-Dark Roast Coffee
Roast: Ultra-Dark Roast
Character: Dark Chocolate, Balanced Smoke, Smooth
Our Vantablack ultra-dark roast is as dark as we go with any coffee. That being said, we don’t burn or char the coffee, resulting in acrid or burnt rubber tastes. We still skillfully roast this coffee to a point where you can enjoy the deep rich chocolate notes and balanced smoke while still being smooth and not bitter. This coffee is perfect for someone who loves a good dark roast with or without milk and sugar.
This is a washed whole-bean coffee, but a ground option is available.

About Coffee From Peru: Peru is known for its diverse coffee-growing regions, each with its unique climate and soil conditions that contribute to the distinct flavors and characteristics of Peruvian coffee beans. The three central coffee-producing regions in Peru are the northern region, the central region, and the southern region. The northern region of Peru, including regions like Cajamarca and Piura, is known for its high-altitude specialty coffee production. The cool climate and high elevation create ideal conditions for growing specialty coffee beans with unique flavors and profiles. The central region, which includes regions like Junin and Cusco, is characterized by its moderate climate and fertile soil, producing a wide range of coffee varieties. The southern region, including regions like Puno and Arequipa, is known for its organic and fair-trade coffee production, with an emphasis on sustainability and social responsibility.
About The Washed Coffee Process: The washed coffee process is a method of processing coffee beans in which the outer layers of the fruit are removed before the beans are dried. This process begins by removing the coffee cherry’s outer layers, revealing the green coffee beans inside. These beans are then placed in water tanks, where they are agitated to remove any remaining bits of fruit. The beans are then rinsed and left to soak for some time, during which any defective beans will float to the surface and can be removed. After the soaking period, the beans are drained and spread out to dry in the sun. Once the beans have dried to the appropriate moisture content, they are hulled to remove the remaining dried fruit layers and then sorted and packaged for shipment.
What Is Vantablack: Vantablack is an extraordinary material developed by Surrey NanoSystems that has gained significant attention for being the “world’s darkest material.” It comprises vertically aligned carbon nanotubes, which are extremely tiny structures with a diameter of about 20 nanometers. The unique arrangement of these nanotubes allows Vantablack to absorb an exceptional amount of light—up to 99.965% of visible light, to be precise.
What makes Vantablack truly special is its unprecedented light-absorbing capability. When light enters the material, instead of being reflected or scattered, it is almost entirely absorbed, resulting in an appearance that is incredibly black. This exceptional property eliminates any perceived surface texture or depth, making objects coated with Vantablack appear two-dimensional. The material finds applications in various industries, such as aerospace, defense, automotive, and architecture. In aerospace and defense, it enhances the performance of imaging systems by minimizing stray light and improving accuracy. In the automotive industry, Vantablack provides a striking aesthetic by reducing reflections and giving vehicles a sleek appearance. Architects also explore its use to create unique designs and optical illusions. Vantablack is a remarkable material that pushes the boundaries of light absorption and opens up new possibilities in different fields.
RELATIONSHIPS
All things being equal, we want to collaborate with people we can have long lasting friendships with. Even though quality is always top of mind, what is equally imporant are the relationships we’ve developed over the years with farmers and green coffee reps.
ROASTING COFFEE
All of our coffee is roasted on our new, state-of-the-art Loring S15. The Loring is the most energy efficient, consistent and quality focused coffee roaster in the market. Our goal is to roast each coffee in order to maximize its natural flavors without imparting any roast characteristics. This makes our coffee rich, sweet and flavorful.
BREWING COFFEE
Brewing coffee is one of the most overlooked processes in the entire chain. Especially at home, most people do not take the time to learn or implement proper brewing techniques. This can lead to poorly extracted coffee and inconsistent flavor. Focus on dosing out a consistent weight of coffee to water and using a proper burr grinder to grind your coffee right before brewing.
